Product & Problem

Berlin Feminism Week (BFW) is a proposed feminist event format that connects people, initiatives and organisations across the city through talks, workshops, actions and community events. The challenge was to develop a visual identity and communication concept that could make feminist topics approachable, create awareness and, most importantly, encourage people to actively participate. Rather than communicating feminism through a conventional or institutional visual language, the campaign needed to feel open, contemporary and relevant to a diverse audience.

Role & Contribution

As part of my Bachelor’s thesis, I developed the BFW from concept to visual identity and cross-media campaign. I worked on the strategic foundation, target group research and communication concept before translating it into the complete visual system. My work included the logo, colour palette, typography, campaign key visuals, posters, social media content, website and participatory campaign formats.

Key Design & Decisions

The concept is built around three pillars: Education & Awareness, Community & Networking, and Activism & Practice. These were translated into a flexible visual system that could work consistently across digital and physical touchpoints. The visual identity deliberately moves away from stereotypical feminist colour codes and instead uses earthy, organic tones combined with expressive accents. Strong typography, provocative statements and disruptive visual elements were used to attract attention, while formats such as petition postcards, an open merch call and social media content were designed to turn attention into concrete participation. The central idea, “Du bist die Veränderung”, became the connecting message across the campaign.

The Outcome

The result is a complete cross-media campaign concept spanning social media, website, posters and physical participation formats. Rather than treating communication as an end in itself, the campaign was designed as a bridge between digital awareness and real-world participation. The final system creates a recognisable identity for BFW while remaining flexible enough to communicate different topics, voices and forms of feminist activism.
